DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Congratulations! You have been selected to to attend the National Youth Science Camp! This highly selective STEM-focused honors program is provided for you free of charge thanks to the generous support of the people of the State of West Virginia, corporations, and individuals across the USA.

Notices like this are mailed every year to students who are competitively selected by their state or country to be delegates to the National Youth Science Camp. They are selected because they demonstrated great aptitude and accomplishments in science and mathematics while in high school. The National Youth Science Foundation continues to provide this unique month-long experience to deserving young students free of charge just as when the program was initiated in 1963 as a service to the nation.

Of course, the NYSC is not without substantial cost.budget

Each year, the NYSF works diligently to secure funds from public and private sources to meet these expenses. We invest considerable time cultivating and sustaining the support provided by the State of West Virginia, the United States Department of State, and many private organizations. Despite our efforts, there is an estimated operational shortfall of $200,000 this year.

The remaining balance must be raised from individuals. Of the 5,274 NYSC alumni over the NYSC’s 52-year history, 831 (16%) made a contribution in 2015 (our highest rate ever). We will do our best to sustain this level of participation in 2016, but we desperately need your help and generosity. If 16% of NYSC alumni pay it forward and contribute an average of $250 each then our shortfall for 2016 will be met!

We have established a goal of $4,000 for each NYSC class (except 2012-15).

  1. As Director of the National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp), I encourage each of you to join me in an investment of $250 or whatever you are able to provide to help Pay It Forward. Some of us are able to invest much more, others less, but the more of us that share in the investment, the more we can leverage everyone’s support to get other organizations to support these young students and this unique and amazing program! Thank you in advance for your support.
